Special assistance at the airport

Useful information for passengers with reduced moblity and special needs

What time should I report at the airport?

Having requested assistance at least 48 hours before departure, you will report at the airport within the indicated time:
  • at least two hours prior to departure when at a call point
  • at least one hour prior to departure when at a check-in desk  

Where can I park?

Each ViaMilano Parking has dedicated spaces for disabled cardholders. 

For logistic reasons we recommend these carparks:

Milano Malpensa Airport Terminal 1

  • The public roads outside the Arrivals, Departures and Sheraton Hotel, are subject to a maximum drive through time of 10 minutes (Area 10 minuti)
  • P2 equipped with call points

Milano Malpensa Airport Terminal 2

  • P5 equipped with call points

Free Parking Procedure 

The procedure requires you contact our staff for space allocation then proceed to the cashiers with the following:
  • Car park receipt 
  • Original windscreen permit
  • I.D.
  • Travel document (airline ticket) 

Pick-up points

Assistance for passengers with special needs and reduced mobility can be activated directly at the check-in desks or at any of the intercoms labelled “Sala Amica Call Point":

Malpensa Terminal 1

  • Entrance 12 and 15 on the Departures floor
  • Entrance 4 and 7 on the Arrivals floor
  • P2, parking floor -1
  • at the train station
  • at car rental agencies

Malpensa Terminal 2

  • Central entrance of Departures
  • P5 parking area

Malpensa Terminals are connected with a free shuttle bus equipped to transport wheelchairs.

Indications for the visually impaired

Terminals are equipped with tactile guide paths and Braille buttons on telephones and lifts. A synthetic voice system indicates the floor at which the lift is stopping.

Inform your airline in advance if you will be travelling with an assistance dog.

What is Sala Amica?

Sala Amica is the general name for all airport services assisting passengers with special needs and reduced mobility and are provided free of charge by SEA. 
The dedicated lounges reflect the following standards to ensure passenger comfort:
  • qualified personnel 
  • accessible restrooms (inside and/or near lounges) 
  • flight info screens
  • internet points
  • air travel regulations including the Service Charter, Official Guide to Milan’s Airports, and Passenger Rights (also in Braille)

Where are Sala Amica lounges?

Sala Amica lounges at Malpensa are located:
  • Terminal 1 Departures floor near entrance 1 (open between 04.00 a.m. and 01.00 a.m.)
  • Terminal 1 inside each Satellite- Service temporary unavailable
  • Terminal 2 Gates (open between 04.00 a.m. and 01.00 a.m.) - Service temporary unavailable
