Face Boarding updates in Milano Linate airport
From December 11, 2020, SEA Milan Airports extends its facial recognition system to all Alitalia passengers on the Milano Linate – Roma Fiumicino route.
Face Boarding is an experimental project that allows travelers of Milano Linate to check in with security and boarding customs through a simple, fast and safe innovative facial recognition system, with no need to repeatedly show documents or boarding passes.
From December 11, 2020, Face Boarding will be available to all Alitalia passengers on the Milano Linate – Roma Fiumicino route with a passport or electronic identity card issued after January 1, 2016.
Using the service is simple. Go to the Face Boarding kiosks to enroll: scan your electronic document and boarding pass through the optical reader and scan your face using the special kiosk camera. The system will create an “electronic token” using a template of your key biometric characteristics. No image of your face will be stored. You can then continue your journey inside the airport without showing your personal and travel documents, going through all steps of the process using the specific turnstyles equipped with facial recognition cameras.
Furthermore, by giving consent to the processing of your personal data, you can use the service on an experimental basis until 31 August 2021, without enrolling again every time you fly.
