Face boarding, the facial recognition system, has arrived in Linate.
Queues for security checks and boarding are cut.
Biometric recognition, for a simpler and faster departure.
SEA Board's biometric recognition system has been operational since 12 February, in collaboration with Alitalia. This is an experimental project, it allows passengers in Milan Linate to carry out security checks and boarding through a simple, fast and safe technology of facial recognition.
The system is thus able to electronically acquire the information contained in the passport and boarding passes, the passenger will just have to show his face and get to the boarding reducing files and waiting times.
No photos will be stored of the participating passengers, the system temporarily detects only the biometric contours of the face and these are then used for the recognition of the passenger. Thanks to the biometric detection of the passenger's face, it is no longer necessary to show the identity document and the boarding pass during the check-in and boarding procedures.
The use of this technology, made possible thanks to the collaboration of ENAC and the State Police, will allow you to take advantage of a preferential lane both at the security checks and at the boarding gates, making the route inside the airport more fluid and efficient.
The Face Boarding project is in an experimental phase until 31 December 2020. Travelers will be offered the opportunity to freely join the biometric control. Currently the service can only be activated on Alitalia flights on the Milan Linate – Rome Fiumicino route: passengers over the age of 18, already in possession of the requirements to access the fast-track, are provided with a boarding pass and an electronic passport or identity card. electronic (released after January 1, 2017).
