Since April 3rd, Covid-Tested flights have begun at Milan Malpensa airport, based on the Ordinance of March 9, 2021 issued by the Ministry of Health.
Passengers coming from New York (JFK) on Delta Air Lines flight DL 118 and American Airlines flight AA198 will be exempt from the 14 days fiduciary isolation normally requested, provided the full respect of all requirements set out in the aforementioned Ordinance.
Passengers willing to travel on a Covid-Tested flight have to prove at the check-in desk that they have tested negative to a rapid antigen test (RADT) performed by swab just prior to boarding at the airport of origin or that they have tested negative to a RT PCR test or rapid antigen test (RADT) performed by swab no later than 48 hours prior to boarding.
Passengers embarked on Covid Tested flights are also required to fill in, before boarding, a specific digital location form, the Digital Passenger Locator Form (dPLF). Once the form has been completed and sent, the passenger will receive by e-mail the dPLF in pdf format and a QRcode, that he must present at the check-in desk before boarding.
Passengers are also required to complete a self-declaration form, that will be collected by the airline operator during the check-in procedures, justifying entry into Italy from abroad prepared by the Ministry of Health. This form is valid only for Covid-Tested flights as the passenger declares he/she will perform the rapid antigen test at Malpensa airport.
Upon arrival at Milan Malpensa, passengers must show the Police a second self-declaration form supporting the entry into Italy from abroad. The form attached is specific for Covid-Tested flights.
The airline will provide passengers with all the previous forms in advance, so that they can fill them in before check-in, or during their flight, for the one needed for the Police in Milan,
After passing through passport control and having picked up their baggage, passengers will go to the exit. Before leaving the airport, they must go to the Covid Test Area, on the same Arrivals floor near door number 4. Here, they will have the possibility to have a rapid antigen test offered by the sanitary operator of Regione Lombardia. All passengers who receive a negative result will be free to enter our country, without carrying out any fiduciary isolation. After performing the test, passengers have to wait for the result for maximum 30 minutes.
Passengers departing from Milan Malpensa with flights DL 119 of Delta Air Lines and AA199 of American Airlines, also included in the Covid-Tested flight trial, are supposed to show at check-in a negative result to a PCR test or rapid antigen detection test (RADT) 48 hours prior to their flight. They will have the opportunity to perform a free of charge rapid antigen test just before boarding in the same Covid Test Area at the Arrival floor of Terminal 1. In case a passenger prefers to take the test in Malpensa, he/she is invited to arrive at the airport at least one hour before the check-in time, in order to be able to take the test and wait for the result.
SEA is grateful to Regione Lombardia who is offering this service to passengers arriving in Malpensa from New York on Covid-Tested Flights. SEA hopes that the trial will be extended in the future to the most significant international routes, in order to favor the air traffic recovery, guaranteeing flight safety, promoting intergovernmental protocols for new sanitary corridors.
