Malpensa Cargo’s record-breaking 2016

For the third year running, Milan Malpensa has recorded impressive growth in goods traffic (up 7.4% on 2015), confirming its position as the market leader in Italy and southern Europe as a whole.

Large numbers of airlines are continuing to invest in the airport, with nearly 110 cargo-only direct flights departing Malpensa every week for the key markets of Asia, the Middle East and America, in addition to goods transported on passenger flights daily.

The Cargo City is set to employ two new Cargo Handling Agents, who will have two new warehouses – for a total of 15,000m2 – to work with. Moreover, DHL – who currently operate out of Terminal 2 – will begin construction on a new warehouse located on a 46,000m2 plot. The new facility is expected to be in operation by the end of 2018.
